Playing the Game and Software Windows In Ubuntu Linux


You may not want to switch from Windows to Ubuntu Linux because you think that you will not be able to play many of your favorite games on Ubuntu Linux or your favorite Windows programs may not work in Ubuntu Linux. Guess what? This is no longer a problem for Linux, now has done much to facilitate and provide for windows programs can run on Ubuntu Linux

You can use the well-known program called Wine to install and use Windows applications on Linux, as an alternative I introduce you to another software called PlayOnLinux, which run Windows games and software on Linux. Actually this software is still the basis for the Wine.

Please note that this software offers a lot of windows software that you may run on Linux but its core purpose is to run Windows games on Linux, that's why PlayOnLinux offers many Windows games that can be played on Linux. Let's see how we can install it in Ubuntu, please note that this software does not come in the Ubuntu package repositories. To install it, you must first update your Ubuntu repository program. Run the following two commands to update the Ubuntu repositories.


http://deb.playonlinux.com/playonlinux_jaunty.list sudo wget-O / etc / apt / sources.list.d / playonlinux.list
sudo apt-get update


After two above command is run, then you are ready to install PlayOnLinux. Now run the following command in a terminal to install it.

sudo apt-get install playonlinux

Once completed, starting from the Applications> Games> PlayonLinux.


Has a very friendly user interface. Select a category from the left sidebar and the main window will be populated with Windows programs that are available relevant to this category, click on the required application and press the Apply button. Enjoy!
